We know that your first time at a church, any church, brings up some questions - How do I get there?  What should I wear?  What’s available for my kids?  What should I expect in Church?  At Central, we feel it is OUR responsibility to "clear the way" for you to come to church, and make you feel at home once you get here. We want you to be able to experience the presence of God through great music, encouraging messages, friendly people, and an enjoyable atmosphere that are a part of our Church.

Worship Styles

We offer three different Sunday worship services at Central: an energetic contemporary service at 8:30, a Spirit-filled traditional service at 10:00, and a new continuously-creative, more casual contemporary service at 11:30. No matter which service you choose, you are sure to hear the Word of God presented in a practical and meaningful way. Podcasts of Sunday sermons are available online. We invite you to enjoy all we have to offer in a warm, friendly, family atmosphere.

No Dress Code

It is truly more important that you are here, than what you are wearing – God seeks your heart, not your appearance. We’ve got a broad spectrum of how folks dress at each service, from casual and business casual to dresses and suits with ties. Our most relaxed casual dress service is at 11:30.

Arriving at Central

As you make your way from the parking lot into the lobby (narthex) area, you will be warmly greeted with a smiling face. If you are unfamiliar with the building layout, or need any assistance, our greeters are ready to help.

Welcome Center

Towards the middle of the narthex (lobby) area is a booth built around the bell from the original church bell tower (when CPC was located on Lancaster Ave in the building which is now Dane Décor). The welcome center is staffed with helpful folks ready to assist you with just about any information you might need. Make sure to let them know you’re visiting with us and receive your free gift bag.

Finding a Seat

You will be welcomed into the sanctuary (the large group worship room) by one of our friendly ushers who will hand you the Sunday bulletin containing the order for worship and a place to take sermon notes, and can help you find a seat if you like. Be sure to sign the blue fellowship pad in the pew, to share your name with those worshipping around you, and so we can thank you for visiting us.

Music

The music at the 8:30 and 11:30 services is predominantly contemporary Christian music, and be prepared - sometimes we really rock the house! Our 10:00 service features more traditional Christian music and timeless hymns of our faith. Don’t worry if you are unfamiliar with the songs or the hymns - song books are available in the pews, and the words are projected on large screens at the front of the sanctuary during the 8:30 and 11:30 services.

The Offering

During the service, all those who call Central their church home are given a chance to share from God’s financial blessings on their lives as an act of worship, in support of the Lord’s work on Earth. Guests and visitors are asked to let the offering plate pass by – your gift is your presence with us in worship.

Communion

On the first Sunday of each month, communion is served. Anyone who proclaims Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior is welcome to participate. We alternate how we serve communion – some months it is served in the seats, where trays of bread and mini-cups of juice are passed down each row, other months the ushers guide everyone forward to receive the bread and juice from the Pastors at the front.

Healing Stations

On the third Sunday of each month, we have a special time during the service devoted to anyone who needs prayer for any type of healing - relational, emotional, spiritual, or physical. The Pastors and selected Elders and Deacons station themselves around the room, then everyone stands and sings several worship songs. This gives folks an opportunity to discretely walk to a “healing station” where you can express your needs in complete confidence to a Pastor, Elder, or Deacon, who will then anoint you with oil (with your permission) and pray with you. Many folks speak of how meaningful and freeing this experience can be, and it’s not about having a great faith in God, it’s about faith in a great God.

Healing stations are based on the book of James in the Bible which says “Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” _{(James 5:14-16)}

Coffee Break After Each Service

Following each worship service, everyone is invited to Fellowship Hall, located across the narthex (lobby) by the Welcome Center just through the two sets of double doors. There you can grab a cup of coffee (or tea or lemonade), a light snack, and catch up with some old friends or make some new ones.
