NAMI Presents: Ending the Silence
CPC has invited NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Health, to speak to our church family. They will be sharing a program called “Ending the Silence” which is an engaging presentation that helps audience members learn about the warning signs of mental health conditions and what steps to take if you or a loved one are showing symptoms of a mental health condition. There will be simultaneous, separate one-hour presentations: one for adults and one for teens (middle school and older). The presentations are geared to each audience.
Children & Youth Outing: Highland Orchards
345Tween & 6Plus Impact! Join us at Highland Orchards for a fun Fall afternoon! Activities include pick-your-own, apple cannons, a corn maze option, and of course, tasty treats from the bakery! Cost of entry is $3, plus whatever activities you choose to participate in. We will meet at Highland Orchards at 1 pm. Parents of youth group age children (3rd-12th grade) are welcome to attend, but are also welcome to drop off/pick up their children. If families with younger children would like to attend, they are welcome! But we ask that those with younger children please stay for the entire event.
Please note, transportation to and from Highland Orchards will NOT be provided. This event will be in lieu of our Sunday evening Youth Night.
General
All children are welcome: any in second grade or younger will need to have at least one parent or guardian with them; third grade and above will be with their Youth Group (345 or IMPACT (6th+)); adults are welcome to join
The plan for both youth groups will be to do the corn maze and apple cannons. Because both crowd and fun will impact timing on these activities, we won’t assume anything further.
Each child and volunteer should bring $12 for the corn maze and $10 for apple cannon (can be shared with 2 people)
Consider additional money for additional apple cannon apples, Farm Market, etc.
It is likely to be hot and sunny with limited shade at the Maze, so plan accordingly with hats, sunscreen, bug spray, water bottle possibly pants if worried about ticks
Location & Drop Off / Pick Up
The address for Highland Orchards is 1000 Marshallton-Thorndale Road, West Chester, PA 19380.
Meeting location: we will plan to meet at the playground equipment at 1pm. Please plan to pick up your child from this location at 3pm.
It will likely be crowded at the Orchard, especially related to parking. Consider using the 15-minute parking immediately when you turn in (near handicap parking) to drop off your kids and walk them to the playground.
Further detail on the Orchard, it’s overall offerings and supporting information, is available on their website: https://highlandorchards.net/.
Faith Formation Mini Series: Parables
Telling stories, parables, was a central facet of Jesus’s approach to sharing his message and vision. He was doing more than telling simple morality tales. His stories were grounded in the world in which he lived and his vision of the kingdom of God.
Each week we will view a 10-minute video on one parable and then have a casual discussion. Each class session is independent.
